What We Believe
Our Foundation
At Fish Creek United Church, our life together is guided by four core pillars:
Faith Formation, Congregational Life, Outreach, and Operations.
Each pillar reflects a vital part of who we are and how we live out our mission. To help bring them to life, each pillar is represented by a unique icon you’ll see across our platforms. Explore the pillars below to learn more about their meaning and the role they play in shaping our community.

Living
Faith
Faith is a journey we take together. Through worship, study, prayer, and conversation, we grow in our relationship with God and discover new ways to live out our faith every day.

Building
Community
Community is at the heart of Fish Creek United. Small groups, gatherings, and shared experiences connect people of all ages, stages, and interests, creating a place where everyone belongs.

Reaching
Out
We believe love takes action. From food security programs to social justice initiatives, we reach out with compassion and care, serving our neighbours and working for a more just world.

Supporting
Ministry
Behind every act of ministry is a foundation of care and support. Operations ensures our people, resources, and spaces are well-tended so our mission can thrive and grow.
Mission
Reaching out with unconditional love, a dynamic faith, and compassionate hands.
Vision
Continually striving to be a wholly inclusive and vibrant Christian community of faith, caring for all God’s people and Creation.
Affirming Faith Statement
We are an inclusive, open, and progressive community of faith within the liberal Christian tradition. We aspire to live out God’s call by our actions, day to day.
We celebrate that we are not alone and that the mystery and excitement of God’s love for all persons and creation was taught to us by Jesus and lives in us by the Spirit.
We are an affirming community of faith where all people are invited and welcomed, accepted, and not judged, honouring all ages, races, family structures, physical and mental abilities, sexual orientations, gender identities, socio-economic status, and spiritual points of view in all aspects of our ministry.
We take the Bible seriously, but not literally, recognizing that parts of the tradition came out of specific historical circumstances and need re-interpretation for our time. We believe that a questioning theology is a healthy part of one’s spiritual journey.
We are called to live God’s love and follow the way of Jesus by:
1. Loving and serving others
2. Respecting all creation
3. Celebrating life
4. Embracing diversity
5. Pursuing justice for all
6. Nurturing spiritual growth
A New Creed
The United Church of Canada
We are not alone,
We live in God’s world.
We believe in God:
Who has created and is creating,
Who has come in Jesus,
The Word made flesh,
To reconcile and make new,
Who works in us and others by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the Church:
To celebrate God’s presence,
To live with respect in Creation,
To love and serve others,
To seek justice and resist evil,
To proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God.
