Pastoral Visits

At Fish Creek United Church our focus is on caring for the whole person – body, mind, and spirit. Our ministry staff are available for brief counselling (usually three sessions), prayer, spiritual direction (pondering life, purpose, meaning, and spirit), and visits to hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, and homes. Other lay people from the congregation also make visits and support people in many ways. For more information, or to request a visit, contact the office by emailing info@fishcreekunitedchurch.ca or calling 403-278-8263, or contact one of the ministers directly.

Prayer Requests

The Prayer Circle Group meets to pray for the requests placed on the Prayer List. Prayer Circle requests are kept confidential. The Prayer Group is open to new members who like to comfort others through meaningful prayer. People requesting prayers may do so by: Putting written requests in the Prayer Box in the Narthex, phoning either office or speaking with any Minister

Prayer Shawls

The prayer shawl ministry combines the gifts of knitting and crocheting with those of compassion and prayer, to offer shawls to those who need comfort, or to those celebrating a joyful occasion. A dedicated group of craftspeople from Fish Creek United Church create each of the shawls, with prayers and blessings knit right into them. The shawls are then passed on to people in our congregation, their friends and families, members of our wider community and even to folks all around the world. If you are interested in creating prayer shawls, or know of somebody who is in need of one, please get in touch with info@fishcreekunitedchurch.ca or (403) 278-8263.

Labyrinths

Labyrinth walking is an ancient spiritual practice common to many faiths, undertaken to quiet one’s mind for prayer, contemplation, meditation, and healing. Fish Creek’s labyrinths are located in the Fellowship Hall at Fish Creek United Church and are unique in that they are square, representing the four directions, all peoples, and all of creation. The two labyrinths are mirror reflections of each other. The entrances/exits to the labyrinths face each other and one can walk from one labyrinth to the other in a way that is one of infinite wandering. Please contact the church for times that the labyrinths are available at info@fishcreekunitedchurch.ca or 403-278-8263.
